I hope everyone enjoyed their half-day. Today we are continuing to work on our grammar homework as well as our math problem set 16 if it was not finished in class today. The students were also given lesson 16 math homework. Please make sure we are reading for at least 20 minutes today.

The students have grammar and math homework this week. Please be sure to read for at least 20 minutes. We have started to learn about explorers in social studies, and will begin talking about extinction in science. We are also learning about context clues in reading. In math, we are working on estimation. Progress reports went home in the Tuesday folders today. The students received a math homework sheet today that would be great practice for them. They should complete the Wednesday section on their grammar sheet, and read for thirty minutes tonight.
Important Dates: September 17-Kona Ice Septemeber 17- Class Conferences September 22- Early Release Your children received a math review sheet that will help them study for the Eureka Math Mid-Module Assessment. They should start on Tuesday with their grammar homework. Don't forget to read for thirty minutes. Progress reports will be going home tomorrow also.

Today the students took home their Tuesday Folders. They have Grammar Homework, and the times test practice if they did not complete it yesterday.
There is Grammar homework this week, and I sent a times test home for practice. You will give them four minutes to complete the test. The Grammar homework is due Friday, and the practice test is due tomorrow.

Today began talking about the Inuit Native Americans, and we took a nature walk where we identified biotic(living) and abiotic(non-living) things on our playground. We also started talking about historical text. They have their Wednesday grammar homework and should read for at least twenty minutes. Today the students brought home their Tuesday folders. These are filled with helpful information, and will help us communicate. The students have grammar homework tonight as well as a math problem set if they did not finish it in class.
Today we continued discussing producers, consumers, and decomposers in ecosystems. We discovered how the first people survived long ago, and compared and contrasted Informational and Literary texts. I uploaded a parent guide for our new math curriculum. The students have grammar homework each day this week.
Today we discussed our emergency procedures, and continued our writing assessments. We began learning about abiotic and biotic factors within ecosystems, and one of the students asked a question about animals who eat decomposing flesh. I told them to research over the weekend to get two Class Dojo points.
We have been practicing our rules and procedures. We have also been completing our beginning of the year assessments. Many documents have been sent home including your Class Dojo invitations, and the "All About Me" project guidelines. If you did not receive the project information, please let me know. It will be due Friday, August 14, 2015. Please sign and return any forms as soon as possible.
